The Jefferson Area Music Band Department is bringing back live music with a Wednesday night concert.

The concert, featuring the regional indie band, The Vindys, will begin at 7 p.m. in the newly renovated Falcon Auditorium at Jefferson Area High School, presented by JAHS’s music technology class.

On the same evening as the rehearsal, on ESPN’s ACC Network, Popovec’s voice, with the same lyrics and hard-driving melody, were being used in a 30-second promotional spot for ACC women’s softball.

The sound of the string section swelled during the introduction to the song “Classic,” and Jackie Popovec nearly swooned at the beauty of it. It was one peak moment in a concert that was full of them.

More than 30 instrumentalists with the Canton Symphony Orchestra will rock out with Northeast Ohio-based alt rock band The Vindys on Saturday.

The Youngstown rockers will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with the full Canton Symphony Orchestra at Umstattd Hall, 2331 17th St. NW. Lead singer Jackie Popovec said the band is always up for new things, but this is a first – and she’s got some butterflies.

It was good to see all the post-show praise from people catching The Vindys for the first time. The Youngstown band's high-octane set showcased Popovec's thrilling voice. She elicited the night's first "DAWN-E ...DAWN-E" chant, properly laying on the Pittsburgh accent heavily.

The Vindys, one Ohio’s favorite bands, will release a special vinyl edition of their album Bugs this Record Store Day on Black Friday, November 25, 2022. And in honor of the release, The Vindys has released the music video for the album’s title track “Bugs,” today. The song, with mesmerizing and hypnotic beat, was mixed by Ryan West (Rihanna, Eminem, Jay-Z). Metaphorically “Bugs” is about the things that keep Popovec awake at night, but the video, which was directed by Pete Campbell and filmed at a private home in Canfield, OH, was inspired by her real-life experience of finding 10,000 yellow jackets behind the walls in the ceiling of her bedroom. Says Popovec, “we took this literal story and made a sort of inception-like dream within a dream music video where I fall asleep and wake up to insects (The Vindys band members) disturbing me. The video follows a spiraling wonderland into several scenes before waking up and realizing it was all a dream.”

Youngstown’s the Vindys just announced that they'll release a special vinyl edition of their album Bugs on Friday, Nov. 25. The band will also appear at an in-store signing at 10 a.m. that same day at Record Connection in Niles. The signing will feature a special acoustic performance too.

The Vindys is a straight-forward, in-your-face, rock & roll outfit with a few twists and turns. Equipped with a horn section, they came out swingin’ for the fences and were hitting home runs all night long. Rock & roll in the style of Led Zeppelin with two solid guitars leading the way for Popovec to cut through the chaos with superb vocals. A little bit country, a little bit reggae and a lot of rock & roll will brighten up anyone’s day.

Youngstown rock band The Vindys are a band you should be paying attention to. With bluesy, soul-rock roots and a fresh alternative-rock sound on its latest album, “Bugs,” the band sounds tight no matter what kind of music it’s making. And that sound is just as tight live. For the first time in its three-year history in Columbus, The WonderBus Music & Arts Festival will be a three-day event.

Hosted at CAS, 2540 Olentangy River Road, the festival will begin at 6 p.m. Friday featuring Duran Duran as the headlining act at 9:30 p.m., and the concert lineup will continue Saturday and Sunday. Lorde will headline the event on Saturday, with what Denny Young of Elevation Group, said was "the biggest and most extravagant production we've ever had." On Sunday, the Lumineers will wrap up the final day.

Luis Moreno interviewed the Vindys before their show at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, Calif., and he got some revealing insights on the high-paced world of this rockin’ band.

Youngstown to Hollywood… The Vindys have arrived at the Hotel Cafe. The Vindys are Jackie Popovec (vocals, guitar), John Anthony (guitar) and Rick Deak (guitar). Two albums and an EP is the current discography of the Vindys but don’t let that young history keep you from attending a show or listening to them. They’ve actually been around since 2014 and are on tour promoting their latest release Bugs.

Up-and-coming band The Vindys are making their way West for the first time and sharing their unique sound with Carson City. The band from Youngstown, Ohio, is set to play the Levitt AMP show on Saturday hosted by the Brewery Arts Center. Singer/songwriter Jackie Popovec said she’s ready to get in front of a new market and wants to see how Carson City reacts to their music.

Earlier this summer, The Vindys were excited to perform in Indianapolis for the first time at the WonderRoad music festival. But their expectations were low.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The second day of this year’s WonderStruck – taking place July 9 and 10 at Lakeland Community College in Kirkland – will kick off with a special event right up the music festival’s alley.

Cleveland.com Life and Culture reporter Troy L. Smith will host a special live version of the CLE Rocks podcast at 1 p.m. on July 10 on the festival’s Radd Stage. The event will feature a panel of experts discussing the state of the music festival and concert industries, what it takes to put on a festival and the future of events such as WonderStruck.
